What is Hypnosis?
Hypnosis is a communications link from your conscious to your subconscious allowing you direct access to the root cause of the problem. Once established you can reprogram and re-frame your subconsciousness for positive lasting change.

Your subconscious is a hard drive that stores everything that happens in your life. It stores all your life memories, skills and experiences.
Think of your conscious brain as a gardener planting seeds and nurturing the plants. Your subconscious is the garden, and your mind garden has been cultivated by all your experiences, thoughts, and feelings since the day you were born.
So, to make real changes to your life you have to sow the seeds and this can be done with hypnosis. Hypnosis is a direct communication link to your subconscious.

Every day you enter into a state of hypnosis! When you daydream, or when you are ‘zoned’ out watching your favourite tv show.
How does Hypnosis work?
To understand what hypnosis is, we need to understand the process of our mind. To put simply there are 2 hemispheres to the brain. One side deals with intellect and the other emotion. The intellect part controls the way we learn and take in new knowledge, skills, and information. The emotive part is home to our imagination. They usually work in harmony, but when in conflict the emotive side always wins!

In the middle of the two sides of the brain, at the top of where the spinal cord comes up, sits a little processing unit part of the brain that communicates with the body and the brain. This is called the Amygdala and is what controls your FIGHT, FLIGHT or FREEZE mechanism. The Amygdala is also your part of your subconscious.
If you are stressed, you either fight and confront the situation, run away from it which is flight, or we freeze and do not act imagine a hedgehog curling up in a ball).

This is a survival mechanism that has served us humans well in keeping us safe over the last few million years. But it is not flawless and can overreact such as when you are in a traffic jam. It also has knee-jerk reactions to situations because of a familiarity of traumatic memories that may lay deep in your subconscious. This is true from fears, phobias to PTSD.

With hypnosis you can restore the balance.

Is Hypnotherapy dangerous?

Not at all. In hypnosis you will always have an awareness and you will be in control the whole time. You will not be made to do anything you do not want to do and you will not suffer amnesia of being in hypnosis. All my clinical hypnotherapy and NLP sessions are strictly confidential and private.
What can I expect with a Hypnotherapy session?

You can expect positive changes to your life!

During your private and confidential one-to-one session, you will feel comfortable and relaxed. You will not fall into a deep sleep but more a higher state of mind like meditation, having full control at all times.
Is Hypnosis effective over Zoom (or other video call platforms)?

Absolutely, it is a very effective way of carrying out both Hypnotherapy and NLP. You will need to have good wi-fi signal and have the ability to hear me clearly (either through your laptop, device or earphones).

Does Online Hypnosis work over video calls (e.g. Zoom)?

The simple answer is, yes! As long as the wi-fi, the video camera, and sound is of reasonable quality, hypnosis works really well over video calls. My preferred platform is Zoom, but we can use any platform such as Whatsapp, Facebook Messenger, Skype, Bluejeans and Google Meet. Click here for more information about Online Hypnotherapy

What is NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming)?

What is NLP? Neuro Linguistic Programming, or NLP for short, is as beautifully simplistic as it is effective.

Created by Richard Bandler and John Grinder in the 1970’s, NLP was developed by studying and modelling the best communicators and therapists of the time. They subtracted the best parts out and combined it to create the art of excellence, Neuro Linguistic Programming.

Using a toolset of modelling, visualisation techniques, and studying speech and behavioural patterns, it is the art of speaking and understanding the mind’s own language. It is fondly known as the art of excellence and is widely used in counselling, business, performing arts, sports and the military.

NLP in Therapy?

One of the founders of modern hypnotherapy, Milton Erickson, was one of the specialists who was modelled by Bandler and Grinder. With this in mind, NLP shares many of it’s models and techniques with hypnotherapy. NLP and hypnotherapy combined is a very effective therapy. Using internal communication and visualisation techniques, a therapist can reprogram the behaviour and mindset of an individual to change their belief system.

When used in therapy, NLP achieves long lasting results in a much quicker time than traditional ‘talk’ therapies. This is because NLP is not focused on analysing and focusing on the reasons behind an issue, but more on the desired outcome and how to achieve that.

NLP is used in therapy to treat:
-
Fears and Phobias
-
Anxiety and Panic Attacks
-
Addiction
-
OCD
-
Anger management
-
Confidence issues
-
Conflicts

NLP in Sport

From grassroots level to professional level, NLP is essential in modern day sport. It can help improve performance, and change the mentality of individuals and as a team collective.

It is used in all areas of sport. An example is a footballer can use NLP techniques to run faster or to be more calm and focused when taking a penalty.

Basketball players to jump higher, rowers to be stronger, and freestyle snowboarders to be more focused when landing jumps.

After all, a lot of sport is played out in the mind! What do I mean by that? Well, I am sure you have all seen what happens when a team is under performing and the manager gets the sack. A new manager comes in and immediately the team starts winning again! It is the same players so what has happened? Yes, the manager may have made a few tactical changes here and there, but it is the mindset of the players that has changed. It is their belief system.

NLP is also a powerful tool for players in a team to be team players and be more in synch with each other. For the team as a collective to be focused on a goal and to have that winning mentality.

NLP in Business

From improving the sales performance of an employee or a department, to creating more harmony, team work and understanding in the work place, NLP is used by business coaches worldwide.

From greater rapport building, communication, to negotiating skills, NLP is a key toolset for any organisation.

For those climbing the corporate ladder, the subtle art of language, mirroring and pacing will be an advantage from that all important interview for a promotion to smashing a presentation in the boardroom!
