I used to work with professional snowboarders and have been all over Europe snowboarding. I love it and snowboard at a good standard. But, it hasn't always been that way and it is fair to say that I was never a natural born snowboarder when I started.
I remember on one occasion when I was learning that I started sliding down this very wide piste. It was the end of the day and there was no one else to be seen - I had the whole slope to myself.
Then, out of the corner of my eye I saw a rock juddering out of the snow on the far right hand side. I started to think to myself that I must avoid hitting that rock. Then, sure enough, I started gravitating towards it and PHUD - I hit it!
That was a valuable lesson as ever since I focus on where I want to get to and not the obstacles en-route. In doing so my mind subconsciously and naturally creates that roadmap on how to get there.
Focus on what you do want and not on what you don't!
This can be applied all areas of life. If you are want to lose weight, focus on those clothes that you want to wear and focus on being healthier and happier with the size and shape that you desire.
If you are worried about taking a test or exam, focus on the feeling of relief, happiness and being proud as you get your results.
If you are playing golf, focus on the ball sinking into the hole rather than focusing on not hitting the ball in the bunker.
So, focus on what you do want, and not what you don't. I learnt it the hard way by crashing into a rock so you don't have to!
Our words and thoughts are hypnotic in nature. Click here to find out how I can help you make that mindset shift into the positive.
