What is Hypnosis?

Ask a hundred hypnotherapists, "What is hypnosis?" and you might get a hundred different answers. Truthfully, there’s no single, definitive answer.

However, I believe hypnosis is a state of heightened focus where imagination is activated to shape a roadmap toward a desired outcome.

What does that mean? Hypnosis isn't about falling into a deep trance-like sleep—it’s more like entering a state of intense focus, much like deep meditation. In fact, self-hypnosis is essentially meditation with a purpose.

During hypnosis, you engage your imagination, which often involves visualization. Here’s where it gets fascinating: your mind can’t distinguish between what’s real and what’s vividly imagined. So, when you visualize in hypnosis with that intense focus, your mind accepts it as reality, setting the path toward your goals.
